League’s "Mini" Newsletter May 24th. 2001
The Banquet was a huge success and we offer a huge thank you to those who attended, and to our Master of Ceremonies, Eric Schill from WTDY. We are already preparing for next year’s banquet.
Workdays are taking place any Saturday at the farm. Quail chicks arrived Monday and the pheasant chicks arrive Monday the 28th. We need to prepare the pens for the chicks, as they will be ready to move out of the brooders in 4-6 weeks. Now is the time your help is needed. If you can spare a Saturday morning or two, in the next few weeks that would be helpful, plus it is a great time to see how the chicks develop.
The Farm is located at 2497 County J, approximately five miles west of Verona off Hwy 18. Map is also available on our website.
Hey, we have scholarship money available for high school and college level students who are interested in conservation. If interested, complete the application from the spring newsletter or go online (www.dccl.org) and complete and then mail the application soon, as the deadline is June 1.
The nesting project on April 28 was a great success and a number of members and families made Hillfarm bluebird houses and bat houses. Some of each are available for sale at the farm.
Spring has finally arrived and so now is a good time to visit your farm as a League member. We encourage you to kick some of that dirt you own as a member of the Dane County Conservation League.
